Model continues to grow our team, offerings, and presence. Model Technology Solutions is excited to announce that Mike Brimberry, a regionally recognized cybersecurity expert, has joined Model as Director of Cybersecurity and Support Services.

Model strives to be one of the world’s best places to work, and we work hard to have the best expertise in-house. Mike’s desire to expand and deepen his Security expertise, together with Model’s work/life balance and culture, laid the groundwork for his transition to Model from The Maschhoffs, where he worked as an Associate Director of Infrastructure and Operations.

Mike is working toward his degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from WGU and his CISSP. Mike’s current Cybersecurity certifications include:

  • ISC2 SSCP
  • ITIL v4
  • EC-Council Certified Encryption Specialist v2
  • CCNA
  • CompTIA Project +
  • CompTIA PenTest +
  • CompITA Security +
  • CompTIA Network +
  • CompTIA A+

Mike is a Southern Illinois native and enjoys travel, and BBQ.   He is married and has 5 children and calls Aviston, IL home.  When asked why he chose to join Model Mike replied:

Model has been doing great work in cybersecurity for years but it wasn’t called cybersecurity then. I’ve known the Model team for years and their reputation for good people doing good work was something I wanted to be a part of. The opportunity to develop and lead an enterprise cybersecurity practice is a dream come true.

Security is complex, whether it’s NIST, ISO, or any of the other hundreds of compliance cybersecurity frameworks, even the most advanced companies need help sometimes. I hope to leverage my passion for cybersecurity and years of industry experience to help Model’s clients prepare and strengthen their cybersecurity capabilities.

According to Mike, these are the essential elements for a mature cybersecurity plan:

  • Hardware and Software Asset Inventory and Management
  • Network Infrastructure Management and Monitoring
  • Secure Configuration Management
  • Account and Access Control Management
  • Vulnerability and Incident Assessment Response and Management
  • Email and Browser Protection
  • Malware Defenses and Audit Log Management
  • Application Security
  • Data Protection and Recovery
  • Ongoing efforts in:
    • Penetration Testing
    • Security Awareness Training
    • Service Provider Management

Mike’s cybersecurity wing at Model will help companies to plan, configure, deploy, and manage these elements to bolster their cybersecurity and mitigate their risks. Whether it’s through a CIS 8.0 assessment, a cyber insurance controls engagement, or ongoing managed security offerings, we hope to be able to meet our clients where they are in their cybersecurity journey and add value.

Model’s understanding of the Microsoft M365 and Defender Security landscape will allow us to help clients get further faster and get the most out of their Microsoft license investment.

Model is excited to have Mike on board and looks forward to continued growth and client success with his contribution. If you’re interested in being one of Model’s Security Services Founding Clients contact steve.bowman@model-technology.com
